
The one of a kind TAG Heuer Tesla Roadster
Luxury Swiss watch manufacturer TAG Heuer celebrates its 150th birthday in 2010 in true style by partnering up with Tesla to create a special edition all-electric TAG Heuer Tesla Roadster.
Tesla Design Chief Franz von Holzhausen created a unique interior for the special electric car. The Tesla Roadster had proved popular since making its debut back at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show and the company wanted to use a special edition to boost brand awareness.

In commemoration of the one of a kind car, Tesla went on a world tour to promote zero emissions, which was the first of its kind ever to be attempted.
The round the world tour began in the home of TAG Heuer – Zurich, Switzerland – and the companies covered a whopping 22,990 miles during their trip before ending up at the Paris Motor Show in October.

The tour was called the Odyssey of Pioneers and saw the special edition electric car travel to 15 major cities around the world as well as 150 smaller towns.

Leonardo DiCaprio was at the launch
Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio was on hand at the launch of the Odyssey of Pioneers world tour and he fast is becoming well known for his work on climate change issues and his passion for electric cars. The CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk was also on hand at the launch and he drove the TAG Heuer Tesla Roadster on stage as it made its grand entry.
As with all Tesla cars, the super special TAG Heuer Tesla Roadster was recharged during the Odyssey of Pioneers world tour using its existing infrastructure. Switzerland is Tesla’s primary market based on a per-capita basis and the luxury car company has delivered 40 electric cars to the European country since sales of the Tesla Roadster began in 2009.
