While the release of the new Batman movie has been shrouded in sadness with the events that took place in Denver, let’s cover a lighter subject that revolves around the Batman franchise – the Batmobile!

The famous Batmobile from all angles
Batman was first created back in 1939 and he has nearly always had a Batmobile. Unlike other superheros such as Spiderman, Batman doesn’t have special powers, which is why the Batmobile is so important to him.

The 2003 Batmobile
In order to pay tribute to the Batmobile, Warner Brothers is creating a documentary called “The Evolution of the Batmobile” that will be released with the Batman movie box set at the start of the 2012 holiday season. Above you can see a teaser clip on YouTube that features footage of many of the different Batmobiles throughout the years from the most famous ones to those long since forgotten about!

The Batman Returns Batmobile
The Batmobile has changed a lot since it was first introduced and the version that was designed by George Barris in the 1960s Batman TV series looks nothing like the heavily armed beast that you can see in today’s Hollywood blockbuster movies.

- Automatic fire extinguisher
- Emergency tire inflator
- Bat smoke screen
- Anti theft switch
- Bat beam
- Bat ray
- Emergency bat turn lever
- Mobile bat computer
- Bat-tering ram
- Bat phone
- Mobile tracking scope
- Bat photoscope
- Police band cut-in switch

The documentary from Warner Brothers looks at the supercar of supercars from a range of perspectives. There are interviews with everyone from Adam West through to Christian Bale and director Tim Burton does the commentary.

In the comic strip, as well as the Batmobile, Batman has also enjoyed using other bat-vehicles including:
- The Batcycle
- The Batboat
- Robin’s Redbird
If you are a fan of the batman franchise, as many avid movie-goers are, then “The Evolution of the Batmobile” will be a huge hit and looks like it will be well worth your time and money.
