Ever Banega, the Argentinean soccer player who plays for Spanish team Valencia, was driving his new Ferrari 360 when it dramatically caught on fire.

Banega was driving on a small road close to Valencia’s training ground  when the Ferrari suddenly caught fire. Luckily, the 24 year old was able to escape the flames unhurt but the Ferrari is unfortunately a write-off. By the time fire crews arrived on the scene and doused the new Ferrari with water to put out the flames, the car was nothing more than a burnt pile of metal.

According to a spokesperson for Valencia, the most likely cause of the fire was an electrical fault such as a short circuit.

Many reports claim that Banega could be seen desperately looking for help to put out the flames but unfortunately, it was all to no avail.

It’s not the first motor-related problem Benega has had recently. In February, he broke his ankle when he was filling up his Audi A8 at the gas station when the car rolled back on him. This wasn’t just a freak accident however as he later admitted that he had failed to put the handbrake on.

And Benega is not the only one having problems with his new Ferrari! One owner from Nashville, Tennessee found out that his Ferrari FF wasn’t as invincible as he originally thought. The driver made contact with the curb while driving his brand new Bianco Avus Ferrari and the front right wheel was ripped from the body of the car and the bodywork literally peeled off from the hood to the passenger door.

Some reports suggest that alcohol was to blame but nothing has yet been confirmed by police and investigators. After making contact with the curb, the Ferrari drove through a garden before going half way up a flight of stairs where it ground to a halt.

The damage inflicted on the new Ferrari FF will likely render it a write-off – what a sad end to two beautiful cars…
